Devon Manor House

A recently restored Georgian house in the pretty Devonshire countryside, this property’s 500 acre estate is an idyllic setting of woods, streams, wild flowers and grassland with grazing sheep and cattle. It is the perfect venue to hold a classic romantic country wedding or an exceptional party, and, while there is no accommodation inside the property, guests can experience a memorable stay in luxury yurts, complete with wood burning stoves and cosy beds.

The house itself offers grand, light and open event space.  There’s high ceilings and period panelling with a careful attention to detail, from beautiful stone or wooden floors to the delicate decor. This property is set up for exclusive use, with the wonderfully large breezy rooms as well as the cosier lounge-like library where visitors can gather for small meetings or intimate pre- or after-dinner drinks. The friendly professional owners are keen to hear ideas to make each event unique, whether they can help with caterers, accommodation, or marquees.

The property has the feel of a stately country home but with an elegant warm atmosphere.  East and west wings vie for attention, while the centre of the house offers its own lovely entertainment areas.  One of the most striking features is a long passageway, running the length of the house, with several arches offering wonderful photo opportunities for brides. As well as different wings there are different gardens for a truly grand feel, plus a walled garden with tower.

The garden tower is a popular setting for wedding ceremonies with uninterrupted views over the rolling fields to the sea beyond, and oodles of space in the walled garden.  Or for something a little different there is also the special Mughal tent – a unique venue under the stars, which can accommodate parties in the warmth of its glowing lanterns.

It is this wonderful blend of history, along with nods to different cultures, which makes the property such a unique place to hold an event.  Classic style combines with a modern and quirky touch for a most interesting venue, and as there’s no restriction on music you can celebrate well into the night.  There is no doubt that this house and its glorious rural setting will make a lasting impression on both you and your guests.

We like:

  • making a grand entrance
  • the sheer elegance of the house
  • the mughal tent for large parties
