Converted 15th Century Abbey

You don’t get more unusual than this.  The converted abbey was originally a former monastery and home to a group of nuns.  Now it has been superbly restored and updated as a luxury venue.

The handsome redbrick building is dressed with bands of white stone, and stands within over 20 serene acres of beautiful gardens, orchards, and water. It offers guests a unique and impressive venue for large scale events, and is an inspired place to hold a wedding, a private celebration or conference. With several function rooms, the abbey can cater for all occasions from small intimate gatherings to large banquets.

The church itself has been lovingly restored and now boasts a Gothic revival bell tower, a magnificent rose stained glass window, and wooden pews, for a very atmospheric event.  It’s a wonderfully romantic setting for a wedding, and perfect for a presentation.  Make a dramatic entrance along the pretty cloisters which join the different areas, or even enjoy a convivial drinks reception there while looking onto the courtyard gardens.

Whether you are planning a ball, a banquet or a business meeting there are plenty of additional event spaces throughout the building, all with traditional and classic decor and furnishings.  Chill out with a drink in the piano bar, after some fine dining, before retiring to your converted nun’s cell, all beautifully re-furbished with rather more comfort than its previous occupants.

The former nuns’ cells have been completely re-styled into luxurious bedroom suites, providing an unusual talking point for guests.  For those looking for some added privacy, especially brides before their big day, a 5 bedroom manor house in the grounds offers an elegant hideaway within the grounds.

Extensive grounds provide security and privacy for those that need it, as well as offering a large space for some fun activities.  Once a building dedicated to prayer and contemplation, a feeling of peace and serenity remains.  Your guests will be impressed, refreshed and inspired in equal measure.
