For summer events it’s great to take advantage of the warm weather and do something on the water. A blue sky, the wind in your hair and the sounds of lapping water are guaranteed to banish the work blues and instill some fun into the proceedings. So escape from the city for your next event and head for the water.
For a real away from it all experience the Lake District should definitely be on your list. This lovely area has some staggeringly spectacular scenery which is guaranteed to make everyone instantly relax and find inspiration. As the name suggests the Lake District boasts a multitude of lakes, none more beautiful than Lake Windermere, and we are pleased to be able to offer a range of different venues here to suit every taste and requirement. All have elegant and luxurious interiors as well as those oh so wonderful views. Journey times from London are much better than expected with trains taking around two and a half hours.
The Lake District Manor is a lovely arts and crafts hotel at the north eastern side of Lake Windermere. Set back from the water and slightly up the hill it has a sweeping panorama all around. This charming property combines traditional rooms in the main house with more contemporary styled bedrooms in the cottages, ensuring everyone has a choice of decor. Wherever you choose to sleep you will enjoy the Michelin starred food and the indulgent spa. Either take over the whole place for the full exclusive use experience or just take a part exclusive hire with 6 or more bedrooms and a delightful airy function room. In both cases it will be an unforgettable event.
For a more relaxed affair we suggest one of our private houses. As its name suggests the Lake View house sits on the edge of Lake Windermere with lawns leading down to the water. For a spot of fishing, boating or swimming it’s perfect and this proximity to the lake adds an extra dimension to the occasion. Inside, the Georgian house itself is elegant and stylish with 8 bedrooms plus a further one bedroom cottage, additional accommodation is also available very close by. A converted barn provides a lovely event space for around 50 making it perfect for small conferences or team-building events. Self-catering is possible.
A third option for a Lake stay is another charming Arts and Crafts property, Windermere House, that has been re-furbished with a real contemporary feel, using white fabrics and décor throughout to off-set the rich wood panelling in the house. The contrast works well giving a more modern, chic look to the property. Perfect for small groups, with 7 bedrooms in the house, there are several large reception rooms including a cinema room with large screen and blackout blinds, for those necessary presentations. For some serious relaxation there is a stunning dining room plus a more informal kitchen diner, not to mention the 8 acres of gardens with those glorious views.
A choice of activities on the lake will include sailing and boating, dragon boat races, windsurfing to name but a few. For those less active members of the group, or for a sun-downer champagne cruise, a steamer ride around the lake is one of the most enjoyable experiences there is.
So, let the Lakes refresh and inspire your delegates at your next event. Contact us to check out the best venue for your group.
