This dramatic venue is a fabulous Victorian Gothic Mansion with crenellated towers and an old Chapel, set in the heart of the glorious Northumberland countryside. As befits a Gothic Hall this property is full of character and atmosphere, offering grand and impressive rooms with wood panelled walls, ornate ceilings and roaring log fires, and can be as formal or informal as you want. Originally built in the 1750s the Hall has undergone fires, rebuilding and extensions to become what it is today. Lovingly restored by its current owners it has become again a Grand House, combining comfortable and relaxed spaces with imposing and dramatic rooms.
This is a House for special occasions, or an indulgent treat for family and friends. It is the perfect venue for a wedding, with the stunning panelled Dining Room for up to 60 guests. Ideal too for a party or celebration, guests can relax in the house and gardens before dressing for a champagne reception followed by a delicious catered dinner. And if you just fancy a get-together with friends then the squashy sofas, old fashioned kitchen and family friendly games room will ensure an enjoyable time for all. Flexibility is the key here, with as much or as little formality, catering and staff as you require.
Corporate clients may prefer the personal and relaxed atmosphere of this Gothic Mansion to the formality of a hotel. Exclusive use of the Hall gives privacy and the opportunity to tailor-make your event, whilst the character of the property provides an unusual and inspirational setting. With a good choice of spacious rooms the Hall can offer a day conference for 60, or smaller meetings and dinners of up to 39, with full catering and service provided.
The Hall can accommodate 31 guests in 17 bedrooms (3 singles and 2 twins), some en-suite and some grouped into suites of rooms sharing bathrooms, making them ideal for families. Bedrooms vary in style from the atmospheric Gothic Room with four poster bed and heavy drapes, to the enormous Master Suite with dressing-room and dramatic Victorian tub in the bathroom or the more simple Nursery rooms with high windows. And if you still need more rooms there are 12 brand new cottages a stone’s throw from the Hall, providing lots of extra accommodation.
In total this fabulous Hall offers a large entrance Hall with seating, a spacious Drawing Room with sofas, open fire and TV, panelled dining room seating up to 60, (this room is licensed for weddings), huge kitchen with chemist’s sideboard, range cooker and inglenook seats, outdoor courtyard with table for 10, bar area, large games room with TV and projector, lift, sauna, steam room and outdoor hot-tub, gardens with children’s play area, and parking.
The interior of the recently restored chapel building retains the character of the original building. The interior has been redesigned completely adding high panelling, an enormous stone fireplace, a bar with its' own fireplace, a mezzanine gallery with glass balustrade, a roof terrace, patio and toilets. It can accommodate 150 for a sit-down banquet and 250 for an evening party.
The addition of the mezzanine has increased the capacity for events and the roof terrace and patio add a new dimension by giving guests easy access to this lovely outdoor space.
